Worship is a large part of our identity as the Church, the living Body of Christ. At Crossroads Christian Church, we see worship as more than a practice, and more than the things we do as a community on Sunday mornings. Worship is a way of life, of living immersed in God’s presence in each moment of each day.
That being said, gathering together to worship as a community is also a vital part of being the church. The Crossroads community gathers together every Sunday morning to engage the presence of God shoulder-to-shoulder with one another. We do this through many different practices such as singing, prayer, Scripture reading, observance of the Lord’s Supper, various other experiential practices, teaching of the Word, and fellowship.
We gather on Sunday mornings at 9:30am. During this gathering, we combine a “traditional” style of music with hymns and a “contemporary” style of music with contemporary songs and a variety of instruments including drums, guitars, and piano. In our gatherings, we strive to provide opportunities for genuine expressions of worship regardless of which style of music is used.
Our practice of the Lord’s Supper is a time when all who call Jesus their Lord are invited to participate. During our gatherings, a team will pass trays of communion elements. Please take a set of stacked cups and hold them for a brief time until further instructions are given. One of the men of our congregation will lead worshipers in the observance of this sacrament by offering a brief devotional thought and prayer, and then inviting the congregation to partake of the elements together.
At the end of each gathering, the congregation is invited into a time of prayer. (We refer to this as “Ministry Time.”) Members of the pastoral staff, elder team, and women’s ministry are available to pray with anyone in need of prayer at that time. We also encourage worshipers to pray with and for one another as the Holy Spirit leads them to do so.
